It’s always meaningful to see how art can create moments of connection, and we were grateful to play a small role in a recent event at Oklahoma Children’s Hospital. Our Grabie Art Fund donated 100 sets of Dual Tip Water-Based Sketch Marker Sets to the Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, and they put them to good use! The “Painting Pawtist” party brought together patients, siblings, and caregivers for an experience centered around art and connection. Participants had the opportunity to paint personalized paint-by-number canvases featuring some of the hospital’s most beloved companions, its adorable facility dogs Churro, Duchess, and Prince! With guidance from the hospital’s incredible art therapy team, including Brittany and Barbara, along with art volunteer Daissy, families also explored a hands-on splatter paint room. Churro, Duchess, and Prince, the beloved therapy dogs, play an important role in providing comfort and emotional support to patients, and seeing them brought to life through art was such a special and fun moment to have everyone participate in. Events like this are at the heart of the Grabie Art Fund, bringing art into spaces where it can make a real difference. We’re grateful to partner with organizations like Oklahoma Children’s Hospital and to support the incredible work of their teams, who create moments of light, joy, and connection for the families that are going through challenging times. 

Through the Grabie Art Fund, we recently donated art supplies to Oklahoma Children’s Hospital, providing children and families with creative tools to express themselves, find calm, and experience joy during their hospital stay.   The hospital hosted its first “Giving with Grabie” art show on Thursday, December 11. Twenty Grabie Drawing Kits were delivered to patients and families, and children joined a special virtual art session broadcast across hospital rooms. Volunteers guided participants through different techniques and encouraged creativity, while patients shared their own drawings and feedback. Seeing the excitement and engagement reminded us of the power of art in bringing connection and comfort. The impact of art can also be seen in individual stories like Sean’s, a 16-year-old who recently received a life-saving kidney transplant just before Thanksgiving. While in recovery, he was able to engage in art therapy using our donated supplies. Art helped him relax, focus, and express his emotions in a way that felt calming during treatment. (Local news) Seeing Sean doing well is such wonderful news. We’re grateful the Grabie Art Fund could play a small part in these experiences, supporting art therapy programs that bring comfort, strength, and inspiration to children and families during challenging times.

  This year’s American Art Therapy Association (AATA) Conference in Portland, Oregon, was another heart-warming reminder of why we do what we do. Every year, we look forward to connecting with the incredible community of art therapists, educators, and creative professionals who use art to bring healing and joy into people’s lives, and 2025 was no exception.From the moment the doors opened, our table was buzzing with familiar faces and new friends alike. Attendees stopped by to say hello, share stories, and, most often, to say thank you for the art supplies we’ve donated to the conference gift bags year after year. Many told us how they’ve used their Grabie products in sessions with clients, classrooms, and even at home with their own families. We heard stories of children lighting up as they painted, of patients finding calm through color, and of therapists rediscovering their own creative spark. It was an honor to hear how Grabie’s materials have become part of so many meaningful moments.For those meeting us for the first time, excitement was high. Many had already tried their Grabie product from this year’s conference gift bag and came straight to our table to explore more. There’s nothing quite like watching someone pick up one of our markers or brushes and immediately light up as they see the color hit the page. One of our favorite moments from the conference came from the amazing AATA volunteer team, who found a creative use for our products before the event even began. The volunteers wanted to personalize rulers they were giving out to attendees, but every pen and marker they tried either smudged or wouldn’t adhere to the surface. That’s when our acrylic markers came to the rescue! A group of volunteers stayed up the night before the conference, hand-lettering information onto 1,000 rulers with our markers. They loved how bright, fun, and durable the colors looked and told us that Grabie saved the day. We couldn’t have been prouder.At our table, the glitter acrylic markers stole the show. Nearly everyone who tried them fell in love with the opaque, shimmery colors and smooth application. Even self-proclaimed “glitter haters” admitted they were converted once they realized our glitter doesn’t make a mess! It was so rewarding to see the joy, curiosity, and creativity our products inspired throughout the event. Each year, the AATA community reminds us why we believe in the power of art supporting mental health. Their dedication to supporting mental health through creativity is truly inspiring, and we’re grateful to continue playing a small part in their important work. Premier Arts Collective (PAC) co-branded the Grabie Watercolor Set as “Grabie PAC,” sharing it with mission-driven passengers on the 2025 K-LOVE Cruise.

Grabie made a splash at the recent American Art Therapy Association (AATA) conference, capturing the hearts and minds of art therapists from across the country, and the world! We’re known for our innovative, high-quality art supplies and affordable pricing, which proved to be a hit among attendees eager to discover new tools for their therapeutic practices and their own personal art explorations. It was also an amazing opportunity to meet in person the art therapists whose organizations were the recipients of the $150k worth of art supplies donated by the Grabie Art Fund so far this year.  Art therapists attending the conference had the opportunity to explore and play with some of Grabie's top selling products firsthand. From vibrant paints and markers to intricate crafting supplies, there was something to spark creativity for every art therapist. This hands-on experience allowed attendees to experience the quality and versatility of Grabie's materials, which are designed to support mental health. One of the highlights of our presence at the conference was the enthusiastic response to our Art as Therapy workbooks. These thoughtfully curated workbooks offer an easy way to take advantage of short & fun artistic exercises that help to support mental health in the user's daily life. Art therapists also loved that the art as therapy workbooks come in our quarterly art boxes, and are a good resource for therapists practicing telehealth.  Grabie's scrapbooking subscription boxes also garnered significant attention. These monthly boxes deliver a curated selection of crafting supplies directly to subscribers' doorsteps. The boxes encourage creativity and experimentation with new art materials, and fun exercises. Overall, Grabie's participation in the AATA conference was a success. Our commitment to providing high-quality art supplies that support mental health resonated deeply with the attending art therapists.  Dear Grabie, On behalf of Creative Arts Networks, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution to the Nassau County Youth Mental Health Summit in March 2024, as well as our ongoing programs in partnership with The Family and Children’s Association of Long Island. Your donation of art supplies played a pivotal role in our efforts to bring art therapy to hundreds of teens from schools across Long Island who attended the Nassau County Youth Mental Health Summit. The impact of these supplies was immeasurable, enriching our workshops and group sessions significantly. Thanks to your support, we were able to provide 270 high school students with their own art therapy toolboxes, allowing them to create personalized journals and explore self-expression through creative writing and drawing. The feedback from students as well as staff has been overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how this experience helped them reconnect with themselves and discover art as a therapeutic outlet.   Additionally, your contribution enabled us to organize monthly art therapy sessions at FCA for PACT, a program dedicated to supporting at-risk youth aged 10-21 who are pregnant, parenting, or at risk of pregnancy. The art supplies provided were instrumental in helping teen mothers express themselves and strengthen their bonds with their children through creative activities like scrapbooking. Moreover, at FCA’s cultural day "Art Festival," your donation allowed us to supply every family with art materials, fostering a sense of community and resilience among participants. The event promoted connection and diversity, further enriching our community outreach efforts. Your kindness and support have had a profound impact on the youth in our community, enabling us to promote mental health awareness, self-expression, and resilience through art therapy.   For Pride Month, as we celebrate and honor the progress made by the LGBTQIA+ movement and communities, it is crucial to recognize the exceptional contributions of LGBTQIA+ artists who have fearlessly championed the rights and representation of their community. We proudly present six remarkable LGBTQIA+ artists from diverse fields, each leaving an indelible mark in their respective realms.   Laura Aguilar "I'm not comfortable with the word Lesbian but as each day goes by I'm more and more comfortable with the word LAURA." Laura Aguilar, a visionary photographer, fearlessly utilized her craft to empower marginalized communities and challenge the exclusionary norms of art history. Through intimate yet dignified portrayals, Aguilar's images celebrated and claimed her own large body, defying the mainstream standards that had long dominated art history and popular culture. Rooted in her lived experiences, Aguilar's ultimate goal was to give a voice to the voiceless through her art, amplifying the narratives of those often silenced. Aguilar's photographic journey transcended token representation, capturing the rich diversity of the queer Chicanx and Latinx communities. She illuminated the multifaceted aspects of identities, embracing and showcasing the racial, sexual, philosophical, and occupational complexities within her subjects. By shining a spotlight on marginalized identities, Aguilar challenged and transformed American visual culture, expanding the boundaries of photography itself.   Sylvia Rivera "Hell hath no fury like a drag queen scorned." Sylvia Rivera, a queer, Latina, self-identified drag queen, and a key figure in the 1969 Stonewall Inn uprising, dedicated her life to advocating for the voices often silenced and overlooked within larger movements.   Following the historic Stonewall riots, where she is rumored to have thrown the first brick, Rivera co-founded Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries alongside Marsha P. Johnson. This transformative group focused on providing shelter and support to queer, homeless youth. Additionally, Rivera tirelessly campaigned against the exclusion of transgender individuals in New York's Sexual Orientation Non-Discrimination Act. The Sylvia Rivera Law Project (SRLP), which tirelessly works to ensure that all individuals, regardless of income or race, have the freedom to self-determine their gender identity and expression, carries on Rivera's lifelong mission to create a stable and safe existence for transgender, intersex, and gender nonconforming people.   Virginia Woolf Virginia Woolf, a renowned British essayist, novelist, and literary critic, continues to be celebrated as an iconic figure in 20th-century literature. Through her groundbreaking works, Woolf fearlessly explored women's rights and openly incorporated LGBTQIA+ ideas and themes, showcasing her exceptional talent and progressive mindset. Her writing resonates with individuals who have long been suppressed in their exploration of sexuality, making Woolf both a visionary writer and a trailblazer ahead of her time. Woolf’s connection with Vita Sackville-West, a known "Sapphist," inspired Woolf's masterpiece, Orlando. This novel, featuring Vita as a man transformed into a woman living for centuries, is hailed as a feminist and lesbian feminist classic, solidifying Woolf's position as an influential LGBTQ+ novelist. Her ability to intertwine diverse identities and experiences within her writing continues to inspire and pave the way for future generations of queer literature.   Josephine Baker A Legendary LGBTQIA+ Singer and Dancer, Baker used her immense talent and platform to advocate for desegregation. As one of the most successful African-American entertainers in French history, Baker dedicated much of her life to combating racism and championing equality. Throughout the 1950s, Baker actively supported the Civil Rights Movement, regularly returning to the United States to lend her voice and presence to demonstrations. In a historic moment, Baker stood alongside Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1963 March on Washington, delivering a powerful speech that resonated with thousands.   In recognition of her relentless efforts, the NAACP designated May 20th as "Josephine Baker Day."
